Benevolence, Goodwill and the Rationally Selfish Life (MP3 download)

By Aaron Smith

People often associate benevolence and goodwill with unselfishness and morality, while associating selfishness with immorality and a lack of concern for others. This talk explains why Ayn Rand rejects this conventional perspective. For example, why does Rand think that altruism is the enemy of benevolence? What is the relationship between benevolence and rational selfishness? How does this apply to my own life and dealings with others?

This lecture was recorded at the  Objectivist Summer Conference 2015 in Charlotte, NC.
